You Are Going To Die Soon (Life is Short, Part I)

Life is short. This sinks in to all of us at one time or the other. How can we keep the proper perspective? How can we live life to the fullest?

“…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”

James 4:14

Perspective– a particular ATTITUDE toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

Life is short. This sinks in to all of us at one time or the other. Loved ones die, a 10-year reunion happens, a terrorist strikes an elementary school. The truth hammers our brain like a nail. We have to live life to the full, carpe diem, tell your family how much you love them, etc. But then, time goes by

and

we

forget.

We fall back into our routines, our agendas, our schedules.

How can we keep the proper perspective? How can we live life to the fullest?

I definitely do not have the answers but here are two phrases I have been repeating over and over again lately.

SLOW DOWN

  • Stop rushing around to the next task
  • You are not THAT important
  • Breathe
  • Don’t try and catch up. Your piece of technology will always become outdated. Your possesions will become old and worn
  • Rest
  • Listen

OPEN YOUR EYES

  • Notice the beauty all around
  • See the best in others
  • Observe your blessings instead of your stressors…frustrations…hardships
  • The grass is pretty green on your side of the fence too
  • Opportunities are everywhere

How do you keep perspective on life? How do you stop and smell the roses?
